Autumn is one of the most beautiful times of the year. As the weather cools down, the scenery heats up, with warm shades of orange, yellow and red falling from the trees and blanketing the world. It’s a time of year that inspires comfort food, and there are few things in the world as comforting as soup. With Halloween just around the corner, these 5 soup recipes are wholesome and delicious and are the perfect way to feed the kids before they head out Trick or Treating. (Or after, but let’s face it, they’ll be diving into the sweets by then!)

Curried Parsnip and Apple Soup by Imen McDonnell

This may well become your favourite soup recipe. Parsnips and apples provide sweetness, while curry powder, cumin and coriander add an earthy, savoury flavour that’s hard to beat. This creamy soup can be served hot or cold, but we think hot is probably the better option if you’re looking to warm up! Find the recipe here.

Chicken Noodle Soup by Andrew Rudd

Andrew Rudd begins by make a richly flavoured stock and it’s worth the (very little) effort. This is a filling soup that is packed full of vegetables, shredded chicken, and noodles. The broth is beautifully livened up with fish sauce and lime juice before being poured over the chicken and noodles. Try this soup recipe as a deliciously light dinner. Find the recipe here.

Leek, Potato and Sage Soup by Nessa Robins

Leek and potato is a classic soup combination, and sage goes incredibly well with these flavours, creating an aromatic soup that’s hard to beat. This is a quick and easy soup recipe with a wonderfully creamy texture. Pair it with some crusty bread and you have a comforting meal that’s perfect for autumn. Find the recipe here.

Pea and Mint Soup by Niamh Browne

There’s not much quite as beautiful as a vibrantly green pea soup, is there? Even better, it doesn’t come much simpler than Niamh Browne’s Pea and Mint Soup recipe. The sweetness of the peas (frozen are perfect for this!) is enhanced by refreshing mint leaves, which makes for a perfectly balanced soup. Find the recipe here.

Roasted Sweet Potato, Pumpkin and Lentil Soup by Cyrus Todiwala

Rich, creamy and full of flavour, this Roasted Sweet Potato, Pumpkin and Lentil Soup is autumn in a bowl. Making the most of beautiful seasonal vegetables (including Halloween-appropriate pumpkin), Cyrus Todiwala has created this deliciously spiced soup that’s as perfect for lunch as it is for dinner. You’ll find this gorgeous soup recipe and more from ‘Mr Todiwala’s Spice Box’ here on Recipe Guru.
