Father's Day is just over a week away and it's not always easy to think of the perfect gift. If your father is a lover of all things food, you might be in luck. Whatever his foodie preference, there's a gift to match it. We've chosen a few of our favourites to inspire you this Father's Day.
For the grillmaster
Barbecuing has taken the world by storm, and your dad doesn't need to visit his local BBQ joint to enjoy succulent smoked ribs and brisket. He doesn't need his own smoker if he follows this handy guide to smoking meat in your barbecue. A digital thermometer will help your dad master the art of fire and smoke in his own back garden. This probe thermometer allows you to monitor the temperature of your meat from 300ft away. As an added bonus, you'll get to eat whatever he makes!
For the cocktail shaker
Most people associate cocktails with Sex and the City and a night out with the girls, but they're definitely not a women-only thing. Whether your dad likes his cocktails shaken or stirred, a cocktail set will allow his to practice and experiment at home. Add a little book of cocktail recipes for inspiration and you have the perfect gift for the cocktail lover in your life.
For the aspiring MasterChef
If your dad's idea of a day well spent is perfecting a sous-vide steak, then he'll really appreciate something a little bit different to help him take his cooking to a whole new level. He might fall over laughing when you present him with his very own food tweezers, but secretly he'll be trying to decide which dish he's going to adorn with micro herbs and edible flowers first.
For the baker
If your dad is more Paul Hollywood than John Torode, lucky you! (Who doesn't love having a baker in the family?) A set of measuring cups is always handy to have. In fact, I'd recommend having more than one set so you can measure out wet and dry ingredients without washing your cups. And since we all turn to the internet when we're looking for new recipe inspiration, measuring cups will allow your dad to bake American recipes without having to convert them to grams or ounces. Even better, they're widely available in any shop that sells baking equipment so they're the perfect Father's Day gift for any baking fan.
For the eater
Of course, not all foodies love to cook. If your dad is a self-confessed eater, why not put together a gorgeous selection of cheese for him to enjoy all by himself? Durrus Óg from Durrus Cheese recently won Best Irish Cheese at the British Cheese Awards, so that's the perfect place to start. Otherwise, talk to a cheesemonger who will help you create a selection your father will love.
Or why not make a homemade gift? Try these decadent Chocolate Stout Truffles or a vibrant jar of Vegan Basil Pesto.
