Move over Thanksgiving and Christmas, we have a new favourite food day and it’s essentially an excuse to add cheese to everything. Yes, this weekend we’re looking forward to Super Bowl Sunday.
In our limited experience of Super Bowl Sunday, mainly formed from years of watching American TV, pizza and wings are the fuel of choice. (Seriously, Americans eat a lot of pizza and wings during the Super Bowl.) But when it comes to Super Bowl food, pizza and wings are just the beginning, and we think it’s about time we put the same thought into Six Nations snacks.
Whether the Super Bowl is your thing, or you’re more into the rugby, you’ll need something to keep you going, and these recipes are winners every time.
Dips
Dips are the ultimate party food. They’re simple to make, can be prepared in advance, and don’t require cutlery or plates. Assemble a vibrant vegetable platter (we’re thinking carrots, radishes, tomatoes, celery…), grab a couple of packs of breadsticks and pile your dips of choice into pretty bowls. Easy. Sure, you could buy guacamole or hummus in the shops, but believe us when we say that these recipes knock shop-bought versions out of the park.

Feeding a Crowd
If you’re on our side of the world, you probably wont be inviting a crowd around to watch the Super Bowl with you. (We reckon that pjs and a duvet will probably be more likely.) But if you’re hardier than we are, or if you’re having a some friends over to watch the Six Nations over the next few weeks, you’ll need dishes that will keep everyone full and happy. Everyone loves buffalo wings, but do you really need the hassle of trying to cook crispy, juicy wings for a crowd? Put the hot sauce and blue cheese to better use and make a spicy chicken bake. Or if you’re up for a bit more work, why not make your own pizza?

Winning Desserts:
Okay, so there are 10 minutes left on the clock and your team is losing. Do you wallow in misery? Do you shout at the TV? No, you eat a brownie. Brownies make everything better. And if you want to celebrate all things American during Super Bowl 51, why not stuff a cookie with an Oreo?

As a final thought, pizza dip is a thing and you need it in your life.
